FOCBS receipts in 2024

In 2024, receipts from levies at the border and within Switzerland reached CHF 23.7 billion, accounting for a third of total federal receipts. The value added tax and mineral oil tax are the main sources of receipts. Total receipts remain stable despite a decrease in import duties due to the abolition of industrial tariffs.

The FOCBS makes a significant contribution to federal receipts

In 2024, the FOCBS has collected a total of CHF 23.7 billion in levies at the border and within Switzerland. The level of receipts thus remained stable. They accounted for around a third of the total federal receipts of approximately CHF 84 billion.

The largest proportion came from value added tax and mineral oil tax. The decline in import duties was primarily attributable to the abolition of industrial tariffs with effect from 1 January 2024.
