In 2025, 4,183 people were employed by the FOCBS, ensuring a permanent presence across the country, at the border and in the border area. Whether working in operational or support roles, their daily commitment helps protect Switzerland makes an essential contribution to protecting the Swiss population, around the clock.
The FOCBS welcomes individuals from a wide range of backgrounds. All have chosen to place their skills at the service of the FOCBS, contributing to the organisation’s diversity and strength. In 2025, two new cohorts started the customs and border security specialist training programme, bringing the total number of candidates to 165.
At the FOCBS, woman accounted for 26.5% of the workforce in 2025.
Each employee may work in their official language. Most employees are German-speaking, followed by French-, Italian- and Romansh-speaking staff.
