Narcotics seizures doubled in 2024
In 2024, a total of 1,607 kilograms of narcotics was seized, including marijuana, heroin, cocaine, and designer drugs. The quantities of certain substances such as heroin and cocaine have nearly doubled compared to the previous year. Particularly, the amounts of marijuana and amphetamines have increased significantly.
Sharp increase in narcotics seizures
In 2024, the FOCBS seized a total of 1,607kg of narcotics, including marijuana, heroin, cocaine, amphetamines, methamphetamines and synthetic drugs. The seized quantities of heroin (2024: 12 kg / 2023: 7 kg), cocaine (2024: 272 kg / 2023: 110 kg), and designer drugs (2024: 175 kg / 2023: 84 kg), particularly ketamine and synthetic cannabinoids, have roughly doubled.
The quantities of marijuana seized (2024: 1,104 kg / 2023: 243 kg), as well as those of amphetamines and methamphetamines (2024: 44 kg / 2023: 9 kg), have even increased several times over.
