Digitalisation gains pace.
The use of digital services aimed at private individuals and businesses increased significantly in 2022. This was especially the case for the QuickZoll application: the number of declarations made by travellers and duties paid via smartphone rose by nearly 70%.
Two other DaziT applications, Activ and Via, also saw increased usage. In commercial traffic, the number of customs declarations that were automatically activated at the border via Activ more than doubled. Via, which allows the owners of foreign-registered motorhomes or coaches to independently pay the lump-sum heavy vehicle charge (PSVA), also recorded a tripling of the electronic tickets generated and the receipts recorded.
Another upwardly mobile figure in the area of digitalisation: use of the European Electronic Toll Service to pay the mileage-related heavy-vehicle charge (LSVA) reached 45% in 2022. In 2021, this figure was 33%.
