Changeover to HVC III – checklist
The following six steps are mandatory for migrating from HVC II (Emotach) to the new HVC III system.
Please follow the specified order
- 1. Register in the federal ePortal with the business partner role “HVC holder”. You can find a guide on how to do so here: Registration for the digital services of Swiss Customs on ePortal (Onboarding)
- 2. Commission a provider as a connection solution (NATRAS AG or an approved NETS or EETS provider). More information about the providers can be found here: NETS and EETS.
After receiving the new recording system and before removing the Emotach
- 3. Carry out a final declaration of the mileage data and submit it to the FOCBS
- 4. Remove the Emotach device that is no longer required in accordance with the instructions or video, and dispose of it properly. Note: the Emotach cable can be reused to power the NATRAS recording system.
- 5. Install the new recording system according to your provider's instructions (self-installation).
- 6. From the changeover to HVC III onwards, the mileage data will be declared automatically by the providers. As a vehicle owner, you will retrieve your assessments and invoices monthly in ePortal.
Optional step (special case)
- 7. Applications for concessions (timber, milk, livestock) must be resubmitted via ePortal when switching to the new recording service. Further information can be found here: HVC III in ePortal.
The FOCBS recommends switching to HVC III in good time to avoid unnecessary downtime. The transition from HVC II to HVC III must be seamless, and no trips subject to the HVC may be undertaken without a functioning recording system. Do not wait until the last minute!
