Bans, restrictions and conditions

Certain goods are subject to import, export or transit regulations, i.e. the movement of such goods is either subject to authorisation, additional information must be provided in the goods declaration, or they are prohibited from import or export. Anyone importing, exporting or transiting goods must state in the goods declaration whether or not they are subject to regulation.

The following pages contain information on goods or products in regard to which import, export, or transit is prohibited. For instance, this applies to narcotics and protected animal and plant species. Certain goods may be taken across the border only on a restricted basis or with a special permit, such as arms. The measures serve to protect the population, the environment, and the economy. The prohibitions and restrictions are grouped as follows:

Security

Intellectual property, trade and culture

Economic and agricultural measures
