The Ordinance on Species Protection governs the import, export, and transit of certain mammals and bird species. A permit is required for both living and dead animals and their products. The Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office issues the necessary permits.

The Ordinance on Species Protection governs the import, export, and transit of certain mammals and bird species. A permit is required for both living and dead animals and their products. The Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO) issues the necessary permits.

  • living and dead animals
  • body parts and products of these animals.

Fisheries

Import: With a permit from the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO), you may import the following from abroad (including transboundary waters):

  • live food fish and crabs
  • stock (eggs, spawn, juveniles, fry)

Export and transit are not subject to any measures.
