e-vignette for companies

The electronic toll sticker (e-vignette) can be obtained via www.e-vignette.ch from the “Via Portal” of the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (FOCBS). For companies, the Via Portal offers the interesting possibility of managing their vehicle fleet.

Warning: Online fraud involving e-vignettes

In recent weeks, there have been increasing reports of online fraud involving Swiss e-vignettes. On the one hand, there are fake websites online. On the other hand, people are receiving emails asking them to re-enter their payment details online.

We therefore recommend that you only purchase the e-vignette from the official Via web shop of the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (FOCBS) at the following URL: www.e-vignette.ch or https://via.admin.ch/shop/

The FOCBS charges exactly CHF 40 for the purchase of the Swiss e-vignette and does not require a deposit. The FOCBS will never ask you to confirm your payment information by email.

E-Vignette & Via Portal

The Via Portal of the FOCBS enables the quick and efficient purchase of one or more e-vignettes for motor vehicles, trailers and motorbikes for the use of Swiss motorways. The purchaser can quickly and easily pay for the e-vignette by credit card or TWINT, specifying the vehicle category, the country of registration and the number plate. The validity of the e-vignette begins when it is successfully purchased and is for the same period as the sticker (1 December of the previous year to 31 January of the following year).

Precondition: registration on ePortal

  ePortal provides central access to the various applications of the Federal Administration. You can also use it to access the Via portal.

  Registering in ePortal enables tickets from the Via portal to be stored centrally. This means that users can access their tickets at any time, regardless of the local browser cache or device used, and can initiate functions such as changing the number plate and sending the receipt to their email address on any device.

• Fleet management

  In the Via Portal, it is possible to register and pay for several e-vignettes at the same time. The function is called “e-vignettes for several vehicles” and is available in the Via portal after registration and login in ePortal.

  This function makes it possible to register several vehicles at the same time using a CSV template provided, specifying the vehicle category, country of registration, number plate and number plate colour.

  You can import your vehicle list in CSV format into the shopping cart.
  Please note that

  • the entire list must be in English
  • the first line (control line) must always be:
    vehicletype, country, plate, platecolor

  In the following lines, all vehicles/license plates to be registered are listed in the same format (one vehicle per line), whereby the same terms as in the control line must be selected (comma or semicolon).

• Payment by invoice

  For companies in Switzerland with a fleet of vehicles that are registered as business partners with the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (FOCBS), the payment by invoice function is available. To register, follow the first four online steps described on our website: Registration for the digital services of Swiss Customs on ePortal (Onboarding). Select the business partner role “Via Billing” so that you can use the “Payment by invoice” function in future.

• Check validity (publicly viewable)

  This option is particularly recommended for companies. If several people share a vehicle, it is possible to check whether an e-vignette is available for a corresponding licence plate.

  Before buying an e-vignette, for example, you can use the Via portal to check whether a valid e-vignette has already been purchased for a specific number plate. This could be useful in the case of a rental vehicle, for example. The system then checks whether a valid e-vignette exists for the country of registration and the number plate entered.

  Note: This function can only access e-vignettes that were declared as “publicly viewable” at the time of purchase. To enable third parties, such as people with whom you share a vehicle, to check whether an e-vignette is already available for a number plate, it is recommended that you select “Publicly viewable” when registering.

• Change of number plate

  You can change the number plate for a valid e-vignette in the Via portal (ticket symbol at the top next to shopping cart). This can be done by stating the new number plate, the reason for the change of number plate and confirming that the vehicle and the holder are identical before and after the change.

  For vehicles registered abroad, you will also be asked to complete the form with your personal details and the required documents if the correction is not made within 24 hours.
