Ethanol

Ethanol can be utilized either taxed or tax-free. While denatured ethanol is available without a permit, tax-free use of undenatured ethanol for industrial purposes requires a paid usage permit. Companies can conveniently submit their applications via the alco-dec platform.

While ethanol for consumption purposes is always taxed, it can also be used tax-free for industrial purposes (e.g. pharmaceuticals, research and development, etc.). Companies that wish to use untaxed ethanol require a permit from the Alcohol and Tobacco Division (A AT).
