UID/EORI number
Companies in Switzerland receive a unique business identification number (UID) for electronic customs declarations. In trade with the EU, the EORI number is essential for identification with customs authorities. Information on obtaining these numbers is available on the respective authorities' websites.
Every company operating in Switzerland receives a unique business identification number (UID). You need this UID to declare your goods electronically in Swiss Customs systems (e-dec web or e-dec Export). You can find out where to obtain the UID on the website of the Federal Statistical Office.
The EORI (Economic Operators Registration and Identification) number is a unique number issued by the competent authorities in the European Union for the purpose of identifying economic operators and, where applicable, other persons, in their dealings with the customs authorities.
The EORI number is required for various business activities in the EU. The FOCBS does not provide any information on the EORI number. Information can be found on the European Commission's Economic Operators Registration and Identification number (EORI) page.
