Training and resources

Sales and service staff in retail, hospitality and events are in direct contact with customers on a daily basis. They are on the front line when it comes to selling alcohol to young people and therefore have a big responsibility when it comes to prevention. They have to decide who can and cannot be sold alcohol.

Training on selling alcohol to young people

To provide practical support for their day-to-day work, industry representatives have teamed up with the Federal Customs and Border Security Office to develop training on selling alcohol to young people.

The training courses on protecting young people are available online at Find course: | age-check.ch «I sell alcohol».

Training for the catering industry

With the help of an online training course, employees who sell alcohol can acquire the necessary knowledge about cantonal and federal regulations free of charge and test their knowledge. Those who successfully complete the test receive a training certificate.

The training course on the catering industry can be found at Find course: | age-check.ch under the title «I'm a landlord or landlady».

ID scan app

An app is available for sales and service staff that checks the age information on ID cards and uses a traffic light system to indicate whether a product may be sold.

The app can be downloaded at www.age-check.ch/en/id-scan-app .

Youth protection poster

GastroSuisse has created a poster to ensure that sales staff are aware of the age limits for selling alcohol. According to the organisation, this poster is displayed in all 20,000 GastroSuisse establishments in Switzerland.

The poster is available in German, French and Italian from the Gastrosuisse online shop.
