Advertising guide

The FOCB's advertising guidelines contain the legal basis and numerous practical examples of spirits advertising. They are intended to enable users to assess whether an advertisement complies with the law.

Restrictions on spirits advertising

Advertising for spirits and beverages containing spirits is restricted under the Alcohol Act (Art. 42b; SR 680). In our “Advertising guide” you will find the most important guidelines and principles that you have to observe when designing your spirits advertising. In order to assess whether or not the advertising of spirits is permissible, the actual advertising itself is always decisive. Please note that the advertising regulations apply only to end consumers (B2C), and not in the wholesale trade (B2B).
