Moving (household effects)
Transfer of domicile to Switzerland is the most important requirement in order to have your household goods and any collections, animals or your car imported into Switzerland duty-free. Further the imported articles must have been used by you personally for at least 6 months and they have to be continued to be used by you after importation.
Holiday homes – second homes in Switzerland
If you intend to purchase or rent a second home long-term in Switzerland without relocating your domicile, specific customs regulations must be observed for duty-free importation of personal belongings that you have used for at least six months. Rules for taxation must also be followed when disposing of a holiday home abroad.

Heirs (inherited property)
Residents of Switzerland inheriting from a deceased person abroad can import goods duty-free. This applies to both regular and early inheritances. Prior approval is required for values over 100,000 francs.
