The International Organization for Migration, IOM Switzerland, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. In addition to a photo exhibition at the Kornhausforum in Bern and at the State Secretariat for Migration SEM, various celebrations are being organised to mark this anniversary. The Federal Office for Customs and Border Security FOCBS is also playing its part in the successful collaboration between the IOM and the Swiss authorities with this photo exhibition in the Customs Museum.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is part of the United Nations and is the leading intergovernmental organisation for the promotion of humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. The Swiss representation of the IOM was opened in Bern in 1994.

Today, IOM Switzerland is active in the following areas:

  • Voluntary return and reintegration support
  • Combating human trafficking
  • Resettlement and relocation
  • Immigration and border management
  • Migration policy and research
