Location and how to get there
The museum is located on the south bank of Lake Lugano in Cantine di Gandria, right on the green border with Italy. The best way to get there is by ferry.
The trip across the lake from Lugano (Giardino, Centrale or Paradiso stops) takes approx. 25 minutes. The ferries dock directly at the museum (Museo doganale stop) or at Cantine de Gandria, from where it is a short walk along a footpath to reach the museum. Current timetables can be obtained from the ferry company.

Information for wheelchair users and people with limited mobility
The current museum is a former border post and was built in 1853. It is located on the shore of Lake Lugano across from Gandria and can only be reached by boat.
Unfortunately, our museum is not adapted to the needs of wheelchair users due to its complex construction. However, we make every effort to ensure access to our museum is as comfortable as possible for wheelchair users and people with limited mobility, and look forward to welcoming you.
