Returns, repairs, processing
Do you wish to have an item returned to Switzerland or have a defective item repaired or improved by the Swiss manufacturer? To correctly fill out the customs declaration, please take note of the following information.
Should you wish to send an item from Switzerland overseas as a return to be repaired or processed, please take note of the information on exportation from Switzerland.
Do you disagree with an assessment decision? A request for reimbursement of the import duties must be sent to the competent District Directorate of Customs (in accordance with the customs/VAT assessment decision). The deadline of 60 days (after the assessment decision has been issued) must be complied with; requests submitted too late will be rejected: Appealing against assessments.
Returns to Switzerland
Please seek information from the foreign postal service or courier company on current dispatch regulations and prices.
To ensure that the consignment arrives safely with the recipient in Switzerland, as the sender, please note in the accompanying documents (e.g. the invoice) that these are returns (e.g. non-acceptance).
Repairs carried out in Switzerland and returned abroad
Please seek information from the foreign postal service or courier company on dispatch regulations. To ensure that the consignment arrives safely with the recipient in Switzerland, as the sender, please note in the accompanying documents (e.g. the invoice) that these are repairs or repairs carried out under guarantee.
Processing
You have an item improved by a Swiss manufacturer, i.e. where more than just repairs are carried out, e.g. in the case of a machine where a stronger engine is installed or a surface is chrome-plated. You will find this information under "Information for companies": the regulations on processing traffic apply to this work.
