Hunting - Protected animals and animal products

The permit obligation and the border veterinary inspection upon import, export, and transit are governed by the Ordinance on Species Protection. This ordinance protects certain mammals and bird species, i.e.

  • living and dead animals
  • body parts and products of these animals.

Fisheries

Import: With a permit from the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO), you may import the following from abroad (including transboundary waters):

  • live food fish and crabs
  • stock (eggs, spawn, juveniles, fry)

Export and transit are not subject to such measures.
