Goods Movement and Taxes Directorate
The Goods Movement and Taxes Directorate is responsible for ensuring the correct and efficient processing of cross-border trade in goods as well as for collecting various excise duties and incentive levies.
In the area of goods movement, it develops the technical framework for free trade and customs agreements, the customs tariff and its underlying provisions, customs clearance, trade policy measures, and customs duty exemptions. It ensures the consistent application of applicable national and international regulations.
In the area of taxes, it is responsible for the collection and enforcement of alcohol, tobacco and beer taxes, mineral oil tax, automobile tax, various incentive levies, and transport-related charges.
In addition, the Directorate coordinates international operations, is responsible for interdepartmental and parliamentary affairs, and represents the FOCBS in national and international committees and bodies.
