Directorates

The Operations Directorate and Prosecution Directorate perform the core tasks of the FOCBS. The other directorates draw up the basic principles for these units and support them in their activities.

Digital Services

The Digital Services Directorate develops digital solutions, coordinates the digitalisation portfolio and is responsible for project management. It brings together expertise in the areas of digitalisation, IT operations, information security, data protection and innovation. The DaziT transformation programme is also part of this directorate.

Policy

The Policy Directorate is responsible for legal aspects, covering areas such as levies, customs tariffs, free trade agreements, border control systems and Precious Metal Control. It decides on objections and appeals to courts, and advises the other organisational units of the FOCBS on correct legal procedure. The directorate additionally coordinates international operations, is responsible for (inter)departmental and parliamentary matters, and represents the FOCBS in national and international bodies.

Risk Analysis and Analytics

Based on forward-looking risk analyses and situation assessments, the Risk Analysis and Analytics Directorate determines which checks are to be performed by the FOCBS. It is the competence centre for data collection, processing and dissemination. It also prepares Switzerland's foreign trade statistics.

Resources

The Resources Directorate comprises Human Resources, including training at the FOCBS campus, Finances & Controlling, Needs Management & Procurement, and Real Estate.

Management Staff

Strategic cross-divisional functions are attached to Management Staff. These include Compliance and Corporate Development, Legal Services, Communications, Policy Staff, and Management Support for Senior Management.
