Foodstuffs and articles of daily use

Foodstuffs and articles of daily use should not endanger the health of the Swiss population.

The Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office FSVO is responsible for the foundations of Swiss food law. The Federal Office for Customs and Border Security FOCBS carries out spot checks upon importation, transit and exportation to see whether or not the legal requirements have been met. Within Switzerland, the cantons are responsible for foodstuff inspections.

Foodstuffs and articles of daily use which are intended for personal and private consumption do not fall within the scope of food law.
